Skiing the Lake Tekapo area

Ski the Gammack Range on Glenmore high-country station, where you get to enjoy some of the best ski touring terrain in New Zealand. The perfect family ski area, Roundhill is a 32km lakeside drive from Tekapo Village to the base lodge where you’ll find slope side parking, stunning views and all day sun. For the extreme adventure seekers, Roundhill also boasts the longest and steepest rope tow in the world and biggest vertical drop in Australasia. Cafe, ski school & hire, and the alpine bar with the best view in the country – the ‘Von Brown Hut’, with views across to Mount Cook.  Season: June 28 –  September 15 2024.

Ski and ride at Mt Dobson for natural dry powder snow, trails for all abilities and a huge learners area with all day sun and wide open uncrowded runs. On the mountain there is a full range of facilities. With a cafe, equipment and clothing rental and a Snow School with a team of international instructors who are passionate about skiing and boarding. Just 43 kms from Tekapo village. Season: June – mid/late September.

An hour to the south, overlooking the stunning Lake Ohau, this smaller field has a lot to offer with terrain for all abilities. It’s known for it’s easily accessible side country. Chair lift, platter slope and beginners magic carpet.  Season: June – early October.
