Lake Tekapo has plenty of activites to offer for all the year round.
During the summer months the lake is popular for water-sking, fishing and kayaking.
The surrounding area provides lots of walks and hikes for all ranges of fitness.
The Mount Cook national park is just over an hours drive away and has a good variety of hikes. Lake Tekapo has an airfield that operates sight-seeing flight and operators can take you directly from your accomodation.
The ski season starts in late June and lasts until early October. We have three ski fields easy distance from the village, Round Hill, 20 minutes drive, Dobson 40 minutes, and Lake Ohau 1hr 30 minutes.
The village has a mini-golf course which uses the Mackenzie country for it's theme. Just south of the village on the road to Twizel there is 9-hole golf course.
Lake Tekapo also has it's own annual mountain bike event, the Run79 MTB Race which provides the oppotunity for people to cycle around the lake with around 1000 other enthusiasts.
For the white-water enthusiats the Tekapo river has a Slalom Kayaking course which is used for a round of the New Zealand championships.
